Watching WMV Videos On iPhone.

Some iPhone users received WMV attachments in mail from his (her) friends who are Windows users. When they opened the mail with their iPhone they found they couldn’t play the WMV files on their iPhone, what they should do if they badly want to view WMVs on iPhone? This problem is simple because the WMV files are not protected by DRM. Just get the “VLC Media Player” from App store and install to iPhone, the VLC can play WMV files along with a bunch of other formats. If you doesn’t find the VLC App for iPhone, you can download the WMV attachments to your computer, and convert them to iPhone-friendly format MP4 or M4V with a free video conversion tool like Handbrake. Then you can put the converted WMV files to iPhone for watching.

 

Another is that you’ve download movies/TV-shows (.wmv) from some digital online store like WMP, Amazon VOD etc. and want to put them to your iPhone. This is a little complicated, because these WMV files are encrypted by Window Media DRM which prevents owners copy/play their WMV files onto unauthorized devices like iPhone, iPod, Blackberry and more.

 

For this case, I suggest you to Download and install a decent DRM converter called iSkysoft DRM removal to your computer. This program is capable of removing DRM from protected WMV/WMA files.  And convert them to open .mp4 or .mp3 format preserving original audio video quality for iPhone (iPhone 4s, iPhone4, iPhone3gs included). Step 1. Launch iSkysoft DRM removal, click "Add" button to load WMV files (DRM) from your computer.

Step 2. Click "Video files to…" button to select the “MP4” as output format in the drop-down list. And click “Browse” button the set output path.

Editor Note: Technically, it's illegal to remove DRM from protected Windows media files. But most digital stores allow users to copy their WMV/WMA files (DRM) two or three times, so it’s no big deal to convert some DRMed WMV to iPhone as long as don’t resell them or give them away.
