Does The new iPad, iPad2 play AVI movie format?

This question always confuses some new iPad users. According to Apple's iPad tech specs, The new iPad or iPad 2 are only compatible with a specified AVI video: Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.
